You will receive bug fixes until a new dot version is released, but you will not receive free updates with new features. Use that version of Capture One Pro for as long as you like. Buy a new perpetual license for Capture One Pro:.Your software will continue to work as is and there’s nothing to pay. If you are happy with your version of Capture One Pro, great! There’s nothing you need to do. Not a great model in my opinion.įrom their support page I have a perpetual license for Capture One Pro 22 or OlderYou have 3 options. If Nikon releases a new model this year, say the rumored Zf, I’d need to buy a new perpetual license to gain support. I bought the perpetual license for the Z8 support earlier this year. This is not to say they won’t offer a sale of some sort, but this is the new model is worth looking into. From their support page, new camera support is only in the dot updates so you would get new camera support, even in the first month of purchase. Example, if you buy a perpetual license on version 15.21, you would get the a 15.22 update, but you would not get an update if the next update was 15.3. If you buy a perpetual license, you no longer get updates past the dot you are on. CaptureOne moved to their new model this year in February. I didn’t see an offer last year at that time. I had done the discounted upgrades in the past as well, usually as part of the Black Friday sales. Photography is a hobby for me, so I seek out ways to save money wherever I can. If/when Capture One goes subscription only, I will move on from them (and use Nikon's free NX Studio as a stop gap). I will not rent my photo editing software. If it has features I like, I will upgrade to it. I suspect when Capture One 24 is announced, at some point (typically in the Spring) they will offer another significant discount to upgrade. I don't need every little minor update, nor the powerful pixel editing abilities of PS, and only do the major upgrades when new feature that interest me are rolled out. ![]() I have never paid that much on a per year basis for any version of Capture One. Currently LR + PS is $10/month ($120/year). Every single purchase was done when a discount was available (as much as 30% off). In 2020 I purchased Capture One 20 and again did the every other major version upgrade to Capture One 22. I knew LR6 would be the last standalone version so I got that in 2017 for my D850. My personal strategy since LR 1 was to update every other major version or so (LR 1 -> LR3 -> LR5 ->LR6). I have been using it since LR went to a subscription only model and I have never paid the full price. I do find some of the comments about the price of Capture One curious. ![]() This is different from copying and applying adjustments because Capture One Pro 23 applies specific adjustments to each photo rather than using your exact original exposure and white balance adjustments on additional photos. This tells me that in about three months Capture One will roll out Capture One 24 and they hope this offer will entice folks to stick with them and upgrade to that. The software works to analyze your reference image against newly selected images and intelligently adjusts exposure and white balance to ensure a similar look across different photos. You can then select additional images and apply the Smart Adjustments. With Smart Adjustments, you adjust the exposure and white balance of one image in a group and then set it as your reference photo. For example, if you're a wedding photographer, you may have many images of the same people with different exposures and white balances. ![]() This feature lets users achieve a consistent look across a group of images, even if the images were captured in different lighting conditions. One of the biggest changes introduced in Capture One Pro 23 is Smart Adjustments. The new version includes many new features, including new Smart Adjustments, improved culling and importing, more control over Styles, improved organization and more. Capture One has announced Capture One Pro 23.
